2014 N.Y.C. Poetry Festival
2014 was our second year hitting the N.Y.C. Poetry Festival. Here we prematurely launched Books & Shovels, our traveling bookstore, raising $500 over the two days thru distributing literature thru a 'pay-what-you-can' system.
Prior to launch, poets & artists donated publications from all over the country to be distributed during our travels.
At the Festival, an overwhelming support stocked our shelves further. New York City cats & tourist poets gave us copies of zines / chapbooks / cds / anthologies. We acquired a good lick of the underground's dirt through the consistent exchanges.
We broke $500 for Books & Shovels' kick off at the launch.
A publishing press was unable to make the festival for their time slot on the second day, and festival staff asked N! if they wanted to take the stage. That lead to landing our second gig for the bookstore at a dive bar in Manhattan.
Sam & Jeremiah danced around beautiful sunrises on Harlem roof tops, drunk on vodka & grapefruit juice. They wandered dead Brooklyn streets, harassed by cops on the Brooklyn Bridge, meandered the nightly skeleton of downtown Manhattan waiting for the surge of anxiety to crack its concrete further once morning dawns.
